On Sunday June 6th the Midlands Region gave a ‘Thank You’ Garden Party for Guiders at Himley Hall, Dudley, as part of the Centenary Celebrations.
Malvern Division arrived by coach and we could see the marquees and gazebos in the parkland and everywhere Guide ladies in an array of summer dresses and hats. We carried our gear and food across to a chosen site and put the gazebo up and laid out the beautifully catered lunch.
Jayne Power had organised the delicious spread, which even included special Centenary cup-cakes made by her daughter Nichola that morning!
We had just started to eat when Lesley Knighton, the Midlands Region Chief Commissioner, welcomed everyone over by the jazz band and gave out a few notices and thanks.
The weather forecast had been very mixed and we were not surprised when a large black cloud came our way, with a flash of lightning and clap of thunder the rain. Luckily as Guides we were all prepared and umbrellas went up, waterproofs were put on and shelter found. Continued on Page 6
