August 2011
Stourport Senior Section thoroughly enjoyed their recent week visit to their twin town , Villeneuve le Roi. They spent a week camping next to the local football ground near the end of Orly airport!
During the week they visited Paris three times taking in most of the major sites – the Louvre, Montmartre, Eiffel Tower and Notre Dame. They zipped around the city on a bicycle tour dominating roads, stopping for ice creams and enjoying the sites. The trip down the Seine at sunset as the lights came on was magical. They all took, or retook their guide promise at the top of the Eiffel Tower, something they will not forget. The guide international neckers invited comment wherever they went.
The Twinning Committee in Villeneuve was so welcoming. They joined the group for a visit to the local market, Paris, Bouthiers (an outdoor leisure facility), and at a barbeque. In Villeneuve they went swimming, enjoyed a treasure hunt, explored the market and supermarkets! They really supported the local economy! Although the coach was a lot fuller on the way home with all their purchases.
A great time was had by all and they are already thinking about their next big adventure in 2013!
