CENTENARY CARNIVAL AT DRAYTON MANOR PARK -
continued from page 2

Meanwhile, many of the younger girls took time out to enjoy the Thomas Landäattraction.

Girlguiding UK Chief Guide Liz Burnley – who visited the event – said: “It’s been an absolutely fantastic weekend. To see 20,000 guiding members from right across the region having fun is just wonderful and it really summarises just what our Centenary celebrations are all about.

“It is also very fitting that our 100-year celebrations also tie-in with Drayton Manor Theme Park’s 60thanniversary. This venue really encapsulates what guiding is about with its adventurous activities and fun-filled days. It is the perfect combination.”

Girlguiding Midlands Chief Commissioner, Lesley Knighton, added: “The Centenary Carnival is the ‘mountain-top moment’ for everyone in Girlguiding Midlands. As an organisation, we have so much to celebrate, and we hope this celebration will live in the memory of all those who attended for a very long time.”

Worcestershire’s County Commissioner, Jo Chester,  said, “I would like to add my thanks to all who took up the challenge and got involved as the costumes made were amazing and all age groups represented from the youngest Rainbow to our Trefoil Guild, all Divisions too!”

Colin Bryan, Drayton Manor Theme Park managing director, added: “The entire weekend went incredibly well. Drayton Manor Theme Park is immensely proud to have been a part of this wonderful occasion, especially since we too are this year celebrating our Diamond Jubilee. The parade through the park was a particularly amazing spectacle. I wish Girlguiding UK many more years of success.”
