CENTENARY CARNIVAL AT DRAYTON MANOR PARK

AROUND 20,000 GUIDING MEMBERS – INCLUDING MANY FROM WORCESTERSHIRE TASTE THE THRILLS AND SPILLS OF DRAYTON MANOR THEME PARK AT SPECTACULAR CENTENARY CARNIVAL

Last weekend (24 and 25 April), girls and young women from around the County celebrated 100 years of Girlguiding UK at a spectacular Centenary Carnival held at Drayton Manor Theme Park in Tamworth.

A total of  2,100 enthusiastic girls joined 18,000 other Girlguiding Midlands members for two days of action-packed fun at the special girl-only event.

The Carnival – not only the largest single Centenary event taking place in the Midlands, but also one of the biggest in the UK itself – also coincided with Drayton Manor Theme Park’s 60thbirthday which takes place this year.

Rainbows, Brownies, Guides, Senior Section members and adult volunteers from 11 counties were in attendance to mark 100 years of the largest organisation for girls and young women in the country.

As well as taking part in a colourful parade accompanied by music from across the world, many tried out some of Drayton Manor Theme Park’s adrenaline-filled attractions including Apocalypse, Stormforce 10 and G Force.

Visitors were also entertained by the winners of Girlguiding Midlands’ X-Factor style competition, ‘Guiding’s Got Talent’ who held a one-off stage show.
