Hi! I’m Heather Talbot and the current Archivist for Girlguiding Worcestershire. This is my great interest and I also care for the Malvern Division Archives.
The purpose of the Archive, and my brief is to collect, conserve, record, research and to make available material relating to the history of the Guide Association in Worcestershire.
Archivists like myself operate in most of the English Counties and in Scotland, Wales and Northern and Southern Ireland. We meet together once a year or in alternate years for training and to learn from each other, so that we can give a good service to our Counties.
In Worcestershire we hold an extensive collection of documents, from Service Sheets to individual Warrants, also newspaper cuttings, photos, minute and log books, Guiding books and magazines, trophies and, last but definitely not least, uniforms.
We have in our collection uniforms going back to the 1930’s with a fragile few of earlier dates, also badge displays and some flags.
Members of the Guide Movement can borrow most of these, with a small charge made for washing and cleaning uniforms. A few are too fragile for general display.
A Loan form is available for download here which can be returned to me via the County Office.
